Until now, selling on FreshEddy meant you were a farmer, a fisherman, or a butcher. Today we're opening the market to a much bigger family: everyday people with a fruit tree, a berry bush, or a few heavy branches in the back or front yard. We call them Backyard Growers.

If you have an apple tree that drops more than your family can eat, a lemon tree that overwhelms you every winter, a fig, a pear, a peach, an orange, a tangerine, or a tomato plant that just won't quit — that fruit has real value. Your neighbors want it. Now you can sell it.

Why we built this

Times are tight, and food that used to fall to the ground and rot is money left on the table. A single mature citrus or apple tree can produce hundreds of pounds of fruit a season. Multiply that across millions of American yards and you have an enormous, fresh, local harvest that never reaches a plate.

Backyard Growers turns that waste into extra income — for you — and puts genuinely fresh, tree-ripened fruit within reach of the people right around you. No warehouse, no cold storage, no middleman. Just your tree and a neighbor who wants what's on it.

How it works

The flow is simple, and it's built around one honest idea: nothing is picked until it's sold.

• **You list your tree.** Post a close-up photo of the actual tree or plant with the fruit still on the branches, set your price, and tell buyers the largest order you can realistically honor.
• **Neighbors order what they need.** They see your real tree and buy the exact amount they want.
• **You harvest to order.** Only once there's an order do you go out and pick it — cut fresh, never sitting on a shelf.
• **You ship or hand it off.** Deliver it yourself, or let a FreshEddy driver handle the pickup.

Because the fruit is picked only after it's ordered, nothing is wasted and everything arrives at its peak.

The one rule that matters

Every Backyard Grower photo must be a close-up of the actual tree or plant, showing the fruit growing on it — not a bowl of picked fruit on a counter.

This is the heart of the whole idea. Buyers are choosing food straight from a living tree in a real yard, and the photo is their proof. It keeps the market honest, it keeps it trustworthy, and it's what makes "buy directly from a tree" mean exactly what it says.

Tell buyers how much you can handle

When you list, you'll set the largest order you can honor. A backyard grower with one lemon tree might cap orders at a couple of crates; someone with a small orchard row can offer much more. Setting an honest limit up front means every order you accept is one you can actually pick and deliver — and buyers know what to expect.
